Chikomborero Foundation hosted a mental health dialogue focused on the theme Motivation vs Consistency, addressing a common struggle faced by many young people.
The session opened by acknowledging a real and relatable challenge, some days it feels almost impossible to get started. Energy is low, distractions are everywhere, and motivation feels out of reach. In those moments, relying on motivation alone can leave people feeling stuck and unproductive.
The discussion emphasized that true growth and progress are not built on motivation, but on consistency. Showing up, even on difficult days, helps build momentum, strengthens discipline, and keeps individuals moving forward despite challenges.
Participants explored practical ways to stay consistent, including:
- Taking small, manageable steps instead of waiting for perfect conditions
- Building routines that support discipline
- Accepting that not every day will feel productive, but still choosing to show up
The session highlighted that consistency is not about perfection, but about commitment. Even small efforts, repeated over time, lead to meaningful progress.
The dialogue also featured Francisca Chatira, a dedicated mental health advocate with a strong focus on child protection and rights-based development. With a background in Child Rights, Childhood Studies, and Psychology, she brings a holistic approach to mental well-being. Her work focuses on ensuring that children’s voices are heard and their rights are respected, while promoting mental health awareness through advocacy, education, and practical action.
Overall, the session encouraged participants to shift their mindset from waiting for motivation to building habits of consistency, reminding them that progress comes from showing up, even when it’s hard.
