Chikomborero Foundation hosted a session on Emotional Pruning, a deliberate process of releasing old emotional responses, habits, and patterns that hinder personal growth. Just as trees require pruning to flourish, individuals must assess and refine their emotional landscape to maintain optimal mental health.
The dialogue explored key concepts such as:
- Identifying protective mechanisms that have outlived their usefulness
- Understanding the difference between surviving and thriving
- Cultivating healthier emotional responses to oneself and others
The session featured Vigilance Mbedzi, a Certified Peer Counsellor, Youth Mentor, and Life Coach. As the Founder and Executive Director of Open Minds Mental Health Trust, Vigilance leads community-based mental health support, mentorship programs, and advocacy initiatives.
His work inspires young people to prioritize mental health, discover purpose, and build meaningful lives.
Overall, the session encouraged participants to practice emotional self-reflection, let go of what no longer serves them, and cultivate inner strength for long-term well-being.
